FAQ
1. Is the quality of ZhenSanhuan handmade iron pan guaranteed?
Answer: ZhenSanhuan brand has a 16-year history, inheriting 113 years of traditional handmade forging craftsmanship. Adhering to classic handmade forging techniques, our iron pans are made of high-purity refined iron with no chemical coatings or harmful substances. Every pan undergoes strict quality inspection with solid workmanship and stable performance. It meets household kitchenware safety standards with reliable quality assurance.
2. What is the difference between a handmade iron pan and a regular coated pan?
Answer: The handmade iron pan is pure iron with no chemical coating, forged at high temperature. It is high-temperature resistant, deformation-proof, non-stickier with use, and extremely durable. Ordinary coated pans rely on chemical coatings for non-stick performance; the coating peels off easily with high heat and wear, with a short service life.
3. Will the handmade iron pan rust?
Answer: It may rust slightly if not seasoned, poorly maintained, left damp for a long time, or stored with acidic food. With proper seasoning and daily oil maintenance, a natural anti-rust oil film will form to prevent rust effectively.
4. Is the handmade iron pan heavy? Can women flip the pan easily?
Answer: Slightly heavier than coated pans due to pure iron material, with a standard household weight. Adults can flip and stir-fry easily. You will adapt to the weight after regular use.
5. What size should I choose for family use?
Answer: 28cm for 1-2 people or small apartments; 30cm for 2-3 people (standard family size); 32cm for 3-5 people, family dinners and heavy stir-frying.
6. Is the handle heat-resistant and sturdy? Will it fall off?
Answer: The handle is made of high-quality heat-resistant silicone with excellent thermal insulation, which stays cool during normal open-fire use. It features a sturdy structure and will not loosen or fall off during daily use.
7. Is the handmade iron pan truly coating-free?
Answer: Yes. It is fully forged from pure iron without chemical non-stick coating, paint or plating. It is safe, healthy and releases no harmful substances at high temperatures.
8. What stoves are compatible? Is it suitable for induction cookers?
Answer: Compatible with gas stoves, open fire, wood stoves and electric ceramic stoves. Flat-bottom models support induction cookers, while round-bottom models only fit open fire.
9. Why are handmade iron pans more expensive than ordinary ones?
Answer: Each pan is manually forged with thousands of hammer strikes, featuring complicated and time-consuming processes. It has higher density, better toughness and longer service life than machine-made pans with no industrial chemical treatment.
10. Are hammer marks and slight dents quality defects?
Answer: No. Natural hammer textures and slight surface unevenness are unique features of manual forging. They do not affect heating or usage and are normal craftsmanship characteristics.
11. Does the pan come with a lid or spatula?
Answer: Original tempered glass lids, wooden lids and special spatulas are optional with different packages. Please check the product package details.
12. Is the black/blue color of the new pan normal?
Answer: Yes. The new pan is treated with high-temperature anti-rust finishing, forming a natural blue-black oxide layer. It is non-toxic and a normal factory state.
1. Is seasoning mandatory for a new iron pan? Can I use it directly?
Answer: Seasoning is highly recommended. New pans have industrial dust and anti-rust oxide layers, which cause sticking, rusting and metallic taste if unseasoned. Proper seasoning forms a natural non-stick oil film for smoother use and better rust resistance.
2. What is the complete seasoning process?
Answer: ① Clean dust and impurities with warm water and detergent; ② Dry the pan over low heat and heat evenly with medium fire; ③ Rub the inner wall repeatedly with lard for full oil coating; ④ Cool down, rinse with warm water, dry and apply a thin layer of edible oil to finish seasoning.
3. Which oil is better for seasoning, cooking oil or lard?
Answer: Lard is preferred. Animal fat adheres better to form a thicker, more durable non-stick oil film. Cooking oil is a good alternative with repeated oil coating.
4. Is yellow/blue/black discoloration after seasoning normal?
Answer: Completely normal. High-temperature heating and oil oxidation form gradient yellow, blue and black colors, which are natural anti-rust and non-stick layers. Uneven color is acceptable.
5. What to do if black powder appears after seasoning?
Answer: Black powder is normal surface carbon powder from high-temperature oxidation. Rinse with warm water and re-oil over low heat. It will disappear completely after 2-3 cleanings.
6. What are the signs of failed seasoning? Can I re-season the pan?
Answer: Failed seasoning shows severe sticking, obvious metallic taste and easy rusting. You can re-season it by thoroughly cleaning the old oil film and following the standard steps again.
7. Is water clinging to the new pan after washing normal?
Answer: Yes. The new pan has no complete oil film and is hydrophilic. After long-term use and proper maintenance, a hydrophobic layer will form for water droplet slipping.
1. What dishes are suitable for the handmade iron pan? What should not be cooked?
Answer: Perfect for stir-frying, pan-frying, stewing, boiling water and soup. Avoid long-term storage of strongly acidic food such as tomatoes, vinegar and sauerkraut, which will erode the oil film and cause rusting and sticking.
2. Can I cook acidic food in the iron pan?
Answer: Short-time cooking is allowed, but long-term storage is not recommended. Finish cooking acidic dishes and transfer the food out for cleaning in time.
3. Why do dishes turn black when cooking with an iron pan?
Answer: It usually happens in the early use stage due to immature oil film, overheating or residual surface carbon. It will disappear after 1-2 weeks of regular maintenance when the oil film stabilizes.
4. Is the iron element released from the pan harmful to health?
Answer: No harm. The trace divalent iron released is absorbable by the human body and helps iron supplementation. No harmful substances are released during cooking.
5. Can I clean the iron pan with detergent?
Answer: Yes. Mild detergent will not damage the mature oil film. Dry the pan immediately after cleaning and apply a thin layer of oil regularly. Avoid strong abrasive cleaners.
6. Can I use an iron spatula on the handmade iron pan?
Answer: Yes, iron spatulas are completely safe to use. The handmade iron pan is hard, scratch-resistant and durable, perfectly matching iron spatulas for high-heat stir-frying without damaging the pan body or natural oil film. Silicone and wooden spatulas are also available for gentler daily use to maintain the pan’s non-stick performance.
